The health of any lake is intimately linked to the surrounding land. The native plant cover and human use of the land within a watershed combine to either enhance or degrade lake water quality.
This part of the Lake Access site allows citizens to explore land use practices in the Minneapolis Metropolitan Region. Using a technology known as a Geographic Information System, we can provide interactive maps that show land use and land cover, as well as information on soils, roads, political boundaries, and other data layers.
