Data Express

Real-time data for Lake Access are provided using Remote Underwater Sampling Stations or RUSS units. RUSS units are robotic sensors that can remotely sense several key water quality parameters in selected metropolitan lakes, and transmit the data in real-time back to this web site.

Use the lake and bay links to the left to access water quality and other environmental data. Since RUSS units generate huge amounts of data, we have developed a suite of data visualization tools, including the Profile Plotter, the Color Mapper, and the DxT Profiler. These programs allow users to use colors and animations to display days, seasons or years worth of data in an understandable format. The images below show output from the DxT Profiler, comparing seasonal trends in temperature and oxygen for the three lakes.

We follow a detailed quality assurance protocol (QA/QC) to make sure the data we report is accurate and precise.
